Process and Medium

I use layers of translucent paint to create organic, ethereal shapes, that float and hover in space. Bold brushstrokes combine with delicate lines, to create a sense of depth and luminosity.

My work is inspired by the organic shapes of flowers and clouds, and arching tree branches. Each piece explores yearning, striving and unfolding, the juxtaposition of strength and delicacy in nature. I layer translucent acrylic paint onto gouache, adding contracting colors and fine details with pencil, oil pastels and markers. Bold floating images invite the viewer to move closer to see the hidden patterns and quirky marks. My aim is to provide a moment of beauty and respite in this busy world.
